Curriculum vitae
Born in 1952. Studies in medicine and philosophy at the University of Hamburg.
1985 Habilitation (Pediatrics) at the University of Ulm.
1987 Associate Professor and Head of the Section Molecular Biology, Department of Pediatrics II,
University of Ulm
1993 Appointed to the Chair of Clinical Molecular Biology at the University of Ulm, Board Certification in Human Genetics (1995).
Since 1995 Director of the Institute of Human Genetics, University of Heidelberg
1999 Appointmented to the Chair of Clinical Genetics at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam (declined)
Research activities focus on tumor genetics, developmental genetics as well as the genomic analysis of X and Y chromosomes.
Numerous memberships of advisory boards in scientific institutions: Chairman of the German Society of Human Genetics, member of the Ethics Commission of the Novartis Pharma AG in Basel, chairman of the expert committee “Research” of the German Cancer Aid, etc.
